WHEREAS, Virginia's Community Health Centers deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and accessible primary and preventative care, including vision, dental, and behavioral health care, and access to lifesaving medications, to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay; and

WHEREAS, currently there are more than 200 Community Health Center sites across the Commonwealth, serving more than 360,000 Virginians, a diverse population that includes children, the homeless, and veterans, with 44% of these sites located in rural areas, and of those served, 30% are below the poverty level and 41% are Medicaid recipients ; and

WHEREAS, the educational pursuits of Virginia’s Community Healthcare Centers bolster community understanding about many wide-ranging, important topics such as emergency preparedness, finances, and diabetes prevention; and

WHEREAS, as locally governed and operated non-profit organizations, Community Health Centers also serve as critical economic engines helping to power local economies by creating approximately 6,000  jobs and maintaining the wellness of all workers; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize August 3-9, 2025, as COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
